Twitter buys Trendrr to support real-time coverage of TV trends

Twitter seems to be serious about monitoring TV trends, the company just bought Trendrr. The idea is to give Twitter new tools for tracking social network activity during TV broadcasts. It will be some time before we see the results of the acquisition, but the increasingly tighter links between Twitter activity and TV suggest that the buyout could prove worthwhile in the long run.
